The Ballad of Tír na nÓg was co-written with Ellie Mackey at the winter retreat on January 27th. Ellie is from Ireland, and at some point during the retreat the story of the mythical island of Tír na nÓg came up in conversation. When we paired up to do a co-write, one of our promts were: Base it on a fairy tale, so we decided to try to re-write that story. The other promt was: Use a chromatic melody in the chord progression, so see if you catch that!

There’s a land of the young and the plentiful,
An enchanted island along the coast.
I have traveled the sea.
You were searching for me.

I was out hunting deer in the local woods,
With my dad and the rest of the brotherhood.
She came in on a white horse,
Saw her just as the sun rose.

She was just like a princess,
How could I ever resist?
So I left my old life behind,
To start a new one with her by my side.

We rode off into the morning mist.
She showed me things I didn’t know could exist.
Never thought I could stay so long,
But 300 years had come and gone.

Dreaming of the days in Tír na nÓg.

She was just like a princess,
