The World Is My Playground was written on February 5th. It occured to me that there were quite a few songs using the Stand By Me-groove, so I thought I’d give it a go. I planned to write a few time travel songs, and this one was meant to be an introduction to the subject.
lyrics
I grew from monkey into man,
Now I have the world in the palm of my hand.
I can do what I want, you understand.
I have mastered time and space.
I am the culmination of the human race.
Now I travel to any time and any place.
Now the world is my playground and I’m ready to go.
My eyes are open to see, and I’ll enjoy the show.
Thousands of years of history has got nothing on me,
Caesar, Attila, Napoleon, and I’ve got the key.
No challenge is too big for me,
Neither the highest mountain nor the deepest sea.
I can do anything, ’cause I am free.
I wanna visit Knut the Great,
I wanna yield an axe and challenge fate,
I wanna show them all I’m no second rate.
Now the world is my playground and I’m ready to go.
My eyes are open to see, and I’ll enjoy the show.
Thousands of years of history has got nothing on me,
Elvis, John Lennon and Hendrix, and I’ve got the key.
My power is absolute,
I can eat from the forbidden fruit.
No threats will ever succeed in taking root.
I wanna visit Pangaea,
To see the world in Mesozoic times,
With dinosaurs and pre-historic primes.
Now the world is my playground and I’m ready to go.
My eyes are open to see, and I’ll enjoy the show.
Thousands of years of history has got nothing on me,
Shakespeare, da Vinci and Mozart, and I’ve got the key.
